Creating a portrait sculpture is an intimate process. I study my subject, from life, photographs, or imagination, seeking the essential qualities that make each face unforgettable. Working in water-based clay gives me freedom to refine until the portrait emerges. I build from accurate anatomy outward, understanding that structure creates the foundation for emotional truth.
